Development and Verification of Novel Building Integrated Thermal Storage System Models

In electrical grids with a high renewable percentage, weather conditions have greater impact on power generation. This can lead to the overproduction of electricity during periods substantial wind generation, resulting in shutoffs turbines. To reduce such and bridge lower production, three thermal energy storage systems (TESs) been developed for space heating domestic hot water. These include water-based system (WBTS), thermally activated building (TABS), high-temperature stone (HTSS). The paper explains development computer models used simulate their successful verification using field measurements. Target values cover about 90% demand excess were found be achievable, performance ratios depending size, particularly WBTS HTSS. TABS’ capacity is limited by geometry available inner ceilings walls.
